Privacy Policy
Pegasus Coders LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates Mappu (the "Application"). This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when you use our Application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not run external servers, nor do we ever collect, rent, sell, or have access to your personal identifiable information, search histories, or saved locations. However, our Application uses trusted third-party services that automatically collect data to enable core functionalities, performance monitoring, and advertising.
1. Data storage: local and iCloud sync
The Application features functionality allowing you to save favorite locations and view your past search histories.
- Local storage (Realm). When you save a location (consisting of custom place names and MapCodes) or perform a destination lookup, this data is stored locally on your physical device using a Realm database. Your local search history never leaves your device and is kept entirely private to you.
- iCloud storage (CloudKit). To sync your saved favorite locations across your personal iOS devices, the Application utilizes Apple's CloudKit framework. This transfers your saved data directly to your personal, private iCloud storage account. Note: local search histories are not synced to iCloud and remain strictly on the device where the search was made.
- Zero developer access. Because all data operations occur locally or via Apple's ecosystem, we have zero access to your search history, saved locations, your private iCloud database, or your Apple account credentials.
2. Mapping and geolocation (Apple MapKit)
- Map interface. To help you find locations and display MapCodes in Japan, the Application embeds native mapping tools via Apple MapKit.
- Data handling. Apple MapKit processes your coordinate lookups and map interactions. According to Apple's Maps Privacy Policy, MapKit does not link your location data or search queries to your personal identity or Apple ID. We do not track, broadcast, or store your real-time live GPS movements.
3. Third-party data collection (Google SDKs)
To show advertisements and monitor app stability, this Application integrates Software Development Kits (SDKs) provided by Google LLC. These third parties may automatically collect pseudonymized device data:
- Google AdMob (advertising). Used to display free advertisements inside the app. AdMob may collect and process your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), IP address, and basic device properties to serve relevant ads.
- Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics). Used to monitor app performance. It automatically collects crash logs, device models, operating system versions, and anonymized app interaction trends. This data is strictly used to identify software bugs and optimize user experience.
4. Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
The Application complies with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Upon launch, you will be prompted for permission to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (via your IDFA).
- If you accept. Google AdMob will serve personalized advertisements tailored to your interests.
- If you decline. Google AdMob will still show ads, but they will be completely non-personalized, generic ads. Your choice will not impact the core features of the Application.
5. Geolocation data
The Application translates geographical parameters into MapCodes for vehicular navigation. We do not track, broadcast, or store your real-time live GPS movements. Any coordinate lookups or search histories remain entirely local on your physical device or are processed via secure, anonymous API endpoints.
6. Children's privacy
Our Application is a general utility tool and does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data directly, we do not store any information that would require parental consent under COPPA or similar international regulations.
7. Third-party links and services
Our privacy policy applies strictly to our Application. Once you transmit a MapCode into your vehicle's physical navigation system, or click an advertisement that redirects you to an external website, your data is governed entirely by the privacy practices of those respective third-party hardware manufacturers or web domains.
8. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
9. Contact us
