Account & Data Deletion
Mappu for Android can back up your Favorites and keep them in sync across devices using your Google account. You can delete this sync account and all synced data at any time, directly in the app.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Mappu and tap the map-type (layers) button to open Maps Settings.
- Under Favorites Sync, tap Delete account & synced data.
- Confirm. You may be asked to pick your Google account again to verify it's you.
What is deleted
- All synced Favorites — place names, addresses, coordinates, Mapcodes, and your folder structure — are permanently deleted from our cloud database (Google Firebase/Firestore).
- Your sync account — the identifier linking your Google account to Mappu, including your email address — is permanently deleted.
Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. We keep no copies, and there is no additional retention period.
Favorites saved locally on your devices are not affected — they stay on each device until you delete them in the app or uninstall Mappu. All your devices are signed out of Favorites sync; signing in again later simply creates a fresh sync account.
Deleting specific data without deleting your account
You can delete any individual favorite or folder in the app at any time — while signed in, each deletion is removed from our cloud database immediately. You can also request deletion of specific synced data (rather than the whole account) through the contact page, with the same ownership verification described below.
If you can't access the app
You can also request deletion without the app: reach us through the contact page and tell us the Google account email you used for sync. To prevent impersonation, we verify ownership before deleting anything — we send a confirmation email to that Google account address and only proceed once you confirm from that mailbox. We'll notify you again when the deletion is complete.
A note on the iOS app
Mappu for iOS syncs Favorites through your personal iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), not our servers. You can remove that data on your iPhone under Settings → your name → iCloud, or by deleting the app's iCloud data.
